Educational Background
Jannette obtained her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in the Philippines. She passed the Philippine dentistry board in 1990 with honors. She has been in continuous educational programs since coming to the US. Jannette is a life long learner who feels quite at home in the lab or college class room.
Personal Background/Interests
Jannette’s motivations to become part of the Pacifica Consortium was simply due to her love of dentistry and research. Jannette also is an avid volunteer in the community, especially with animal protection. Both Jannette and her husband make their work as their hobby. So spending hours in research, school, seminars and just working in the lab or, out in the field, is part of what they both call “FUN.” Jannette spends what free time she has, caring for her many pets and working out at the gym. Jannette at one time had over twenty rabbits in her dedicated pet room at her home. Both her and her husband love animals like they are their children. Since both are career type persons, their bunnies, birds and dogs are their family.
Research Interests
Jannette’s research at the Pacifica Consortium encompasses the design and evaluation of several new dental surgery processes and tools she is in the design phase of. Jannette has had a long interest in understanding the aspects of disease transmission and finding ways to better predict a patients development of a given disease (even beyond dentistry). Jannette feels that the study of a patients long term overall health and history, combined with a comprehensive review of the patients oral health, may be a critical link in the process of predicting the onset of other health issues. She is also working at her own dental center towards the development of a protocol for long term patient health history analysis and correlation with health test methods in the dental chair to predict patient long term condition development.
